Our Mission
The grounds at Sol Temple Retreat Center is a thoughtfully, intentionally designed off-grid sanctuary that bridges the gap between traditional jungle-based plant medicine environments and modern retreat comfort. This is a place where you can feel the essence of a jungle retreat without having to endure the harsher edges of one.
Nestled on five acres of cultivated botanical landscape in the lush Puna Rainforest, we offer an immersive experience of nature—open-air sheltered gathering spaces surrounded by colorful aromatic flora, cabins tucked away throughout the gardens where guests will wake to the sounds of forest birdsong while recharging on memory foam mattresses, comfortable gathering spaces for connection to self, others and the healing landscape, as well as our signature, unique 1,100 sqft geodesic pyramid intentional activity and ceremony temple.
We maintain a high standard of cleanliness and livability. Guests experience simplicity and disconnection from modern excess, supported by solar power with ample energy storage, a rain catchment triple filtered water system impeccably maintained, on-demand hot showers, a well equipped kitchen, and restorative amenities like our far infrared sauna, magnesium soaking tub, and cold plunge.
The intention is not luxury, but beauty, simplicity, comfort and cleanliness. An environment that is both raw and comfortable. The result is a grounded, authentic container that gently stretches comfort zones without overwhelming them allowing for healing, inspiration, and transformation.
About the Facility
Sol Temple Consciousness Center is a 508c1a non-profit spiritual organization. Resting on 5 acres of the Puna Rainforest on the Big Island of Hawaii, we are an off-grid, full amenity eco retreat and wellness center, organic farm, and botanical garden.
Originally developed as a flower nursery, the landscape at Sol Temple is a unique, breathtaking healing space home to the largest variety of vireya rhododendrons in the entire Pacific. We operate our own healing and wellness retreats, rent the facility to other wellness retreat operators, we grow organic food, plant food bearing tress, remove invasive species, steward the land with aloha, and are allies of the Hawaiian people and culture. We make it compulsory for all our guests to have an educational and immersive cultural experience with a kumu (teacher) of the beautiful Hawaiian culture. We realize we are guests on the stolen lands of Hawai'i and do our best to be stewards and treat this magnificent place with reverence and respect.
